Kasthuri Manjal, commonly known as Wild Turmeric, is traditionally associated with Curcuma aromatica, a turmeric species distinct from the commonly used culinary turmeric (Curcuma longa). The Siddha Formulary identifies Kasthuri Manjal botanically as Curcuma aromatica and lists the rhizome as the plant part used. The powder has a characteristic warm yellow appearance and an aromatic turmeric-like fragrance, making it a familiar ingredient in traditional personal-care and bathing practices.

Kasthuri Manjal Powder is commonly used externally in traditional skincare routines, particularly in face packs and bath-powder preparations. It can be blended with suitable household ingredients such as rose water, milk or other traditional face-pack bases to make a paste, depending on the intended use. This product should not be treated as ordinary cooking turmeric; external-use directions should be followed according to the product label. Some commercial Kasthuri Manjal products specifically state that they are for external use only.
