Product Description
Siris, commonly known as Indian Siris or Siris Tree, is a large deciduous tree scientifically known as Albizia lebbeck. It is native to the Indian subcontinent and is commonly found in tropical and seasonally dry environments. The tree develops a broad, spreading canopy with bipinnate leaves and produces fragrant, cream to yellowish-white flowers in rounded clusters. Its flat, straw-coloured seed pods remain on the tree and contain the seeds.
The species is widely valued as a multipurpose tree for avenue planting, shade, agroforestry, forestry and timber production. It is also capable of coppicing and responds to pruning and lopping. Depending on the intended purpose, forestry references report closer spacing for fuelwood and wider spacing for timber production.
