Product Description

Pirandai Idli/Dosa Powder is a traditional South Indian podi made with Pirandai (Cissus quadrangularis / Adamant Creeper), roasted lentils, chillies and aromatic spices. Similar commercial Pirandai Idli/Dosa Podi formulations use Pirandai together with urad dal, chana dal, red chilli, curry leaves, sesame seeds, asafoetida and salt, creating a dry, aromatic powder designed specifically for South Indian tiffin dishes.

The powder has a characteristic roasted, spicy and savoury flavour with the distinctive herbal note of Pirandai. Its slightly coarse podi texture makes it suitable for mixing with sesame oil or ghee and serving alongside hot idli and dosa. It can also be sprinkled directly over freshly prepared idli or dosa for a convenient traditional accompaniment.

Key Ingredients:

  • Pirandai (Cissus quadrangularis / Adamant Creeper)
  • Urad Dal (Black Gram)
  • Chana Dal (Bengal Gram)
  • Dried Red Chilli
  • Sesame Seeds
  • Curry Leaves
  • Asafoetida (Hing)
  • Salt

Serving Suggestions:

  1. Mix Pirandai Idli/Dosa Powder with sesame oil or ghee to make a flavorful accompaniment for hot idli or dosa.
  2. Sprinkle directly over freshly cooked idli with a little sesame oil or ghee.
  3. Sprinkle over podi dosa while the dosa is cooking.
  4. Serve alongside dosa, uttapam or other South Indian tiffin dishes.
  5. It can also be mixed with hot steamed rice and ghee or sesame oil.

Storage Type:

  1. Store in a cool and dry place.
  2. Keep away from moisture and direct sunlight.
  3. Keep the powder in an airtight container after opening.
  4. Always use a clean and completely dry spoon.
  5. Close the container tightly after every use.
